Things I’m loving
Office with a view. This is my view from my home office. It’s both good and bad as I can see my family having fun while I’m upstairs working, but also….I can watch my family have fun and I can bask in sunbeams while still earning a paycheck, so…I’ll take it.
Family movie night, every night. One of the best things about this stay-at-home stuff is that we are now watching TV together as a family every night. We are taking turns picking movies. Dan and I have been introducing them to classics like “National Lampoon’s Vacation,” “Every Which Way But Loose,” “Tremors,” and “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off,” and “Shawshank Redemption.” We recently watched “Freedom Writers” (Netflix), which is another great family flick. BTW — did you know you can have a “Netflix” party and watch movies with your friends online? Lauren did it with a friend this week and said it worked well (p.s. you have to do it from a computer/browser, doesn’t work in the Netflix app which is what phones/tablets will default to.
Ricardo’s. We don’t eat out very often, but when we do, we always chose a local restaurant. Last night, we enjoyed a fabulous dinner from Ricardo’s on E. Lake Road. They are serving their entire menu via takeout and are open daily from 11 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. They even have steak specials (ask or look at their ad in the Erie Times-News).
Things I’m not loving
An empty city. I walked around downtown Erie a couple weeks ago when I took my car to Kerr’s to have the snow tires removed. This was shortly after everyone was being ordered to work/stay at home and it was just creepy to see Erie Insurance offices dark and city streets mostly deserted at 11 a.m. It just made me really sad, actually.
Different charger cord for new phone. I bought new cell phone, sort of on a whim, but I’m annoyed that I am completely out of memory on my old one and can never put new apps on it and I figure I’ve got the time in the evenings now to get a new phone all set up and working the way I want, so I chose the MotoG7 Supra and I really love it (I especially love that I can delete all the factory-installed bloatware I don’t want and reclaim that space!), but….I was instantly annoyed to find it takes a different type of charger cord (USB to Type C). I can get adapters and use my old cords, but I just decided to order a handful of new ones. Silver lining: These will only fit my phone, so…they’re mine…allllll mine.
The shoulder/arm pain I’ve been suffering from has nothing to do with lifting weights or swimming. I’ve had pain in my arm/shoulder/upper back (laugh, but I literally cannot pinpoint where the pain originates) since last fall. I thought it from having increased my swimming to three miles a week or that I had started a pretty aggressive weight lifting program, but since I haven’t been able to do either in weeks and the arm is just as bad, if not worse, it’s pretty clear I need to get an MRI when it’s safe to do so again. It doesn’t bother during the day, but laying down at night….oi vey. There is no comfortable position.
