Three things I’m loving This week:
“Wanting every girl at his high school to feel loved on Valentine’s Day, one big-hearted Oklahoma teen decided to surprise all of them with cards and candy this year — a total of 1,076 girls.
According to KFOR, Dan Williams, a student at Edmond High School in Edmond, Oklahoma, had to work all summer to raise enough money for the surprise gifts. “To know that someone cares about them, that’s the best feeling in the world I think,” he told the news outlet.”
3. Pilates. The college I work for offers free lunchtime yoga and pilates classes for staff and faculty. It’s amazing to me — a recovering cardio-junkie — that low-sweat classes can actually be a great workout. For the first time, I am seeing real definition in my arms and I can only attribute it to Pilates.
Things I’m not loving this week
1. Yik Yak. Unfamiliar with this nightmare? Lucky you. It’s an anonymous social network that promotes racism, sexism, intolerance, ignorance, and cowardice. Or, at least that’s what you’d think if you “ride the Yak.” The two young men who developed the app are millionaires. But I don’t know how they sleep at night knowing that millions of people are hurt every day by the program they developed. They didn’t exactly use their talents to make the world a better place, now did they. I believe in karma, though, and it would seem it’s already working.
2. Eleven and a half. *sigh*
3. Winter. I love winter and I love snow. But, even I’m getting tired of this season now.
